Biography

Maurice Flood was a gay rights activist, founder of the Gay Alliance Toward Equality (GATE) Vancouver, and an editor for Gay Tide. When the Vancouver Sun refused to print a GATE advertisement in 1974, the group launched a court challenge which was the first sexual orientation case to be heard by the Supreme Court of Canada (1979). Flood often gave talks at events and spoke about gay liberation at universities.
