December Toronto Rupert Raj established Metamorphosis: Gender Counselling-Educational Services. Raj was a transsexual who had transitioned in 1970, earned a B.A. in psychology in 1975, and had been counselling transsexual peers throughout Canada and the United States. Metamorphosis, a journal edited by Raj, began publication in 1982. Raj also created the non-profit Metamorphosis Medical Research Foundation, which served transsexuals, in January 1983.
