November 29 Toronto Federal NDP leader Ed Broadbent was quoted in the November 29 issue of Maclean's saying that, in order to make itself more palatable to the electorate, the NDP must stop supporting every fad issue or minority concern that came along, "whether it's the homosexual minority or whatever" (p. 58). This statement was contrary to a resolution adopted by the Ontario NDP calling for the inclusion of a "sexual orientation" clause in the Ontario Human Rights Code. (See also June 11–13, 1976.)
