July 24 Timmins, Ont. At a policy convention, the Social Credit Party of Ontario voted to endorse most of the platform of CGRO. This was a direct challenge to the explicit anti-homosexual stance taken by the national executive of the Social Credit Party of Canada. The convention also voted to recognize the national Social Credit Gay Caucus, and condemned recent anti-gay statements made by party MPs Armand Caouette and René Matte.
