October 19 Toronto The Toronto Star published the editorial "Homosexuals: Where the Star Draws the Line," which outlined the paper's attitude and policy towards homosexuality and condemned the "aggressive recruitment propaganda" of The Body Politic and other gay groups. The Star's editorial was triggered in part by its disapproval of Gerald Hannon's opinion piece "Outrage," published in the September-October 1974 issue of The Body Politic, in which Hannon urged the gay community to call for the release of Karl John Roestad, an imprisoned homosexual pedophile.
