Description
June 18 Sooke, B.C. During an all-candidates meeting for the July 8 federal election. Randy Notte of the GPA asked Tommy Douglas, former leader of the NDP and the incumbent for Nanaimo-Cowichan-The Islands, about gross indecency and buggery in the Criminal Code and about the inclusion of sexual orientation in the Canadian Bill of Rights. Douglas replied, "I do not feel that heterosexuals should oppose a minority but questions of freedom should be confined to adults only and I feel that a minority has no right to induce seduction."
