June 30 Toronto The first exclusively lesbian conference in Canada was held at the YWCA, 21 McGill Street. The Gay Women's Festival included discussion groups on legal rights, relationships, lesbian mothers, lesbians and employment, and lesbian feminism. A dance and picnic were also held. Proposals were put forth to attempt to form new groups, including a lesbian bar-club in Toronto, as well as a group of radicalesbians. About fifty women attended, some from as far away as Vancouver and Montréal.
