October 12 Vancouver During a campaign stop at the University of British Columbia, federal Urban Affairs minister Ron Basford was questioned by Maurice Flood of GATE (Vancouver) concerning the Liberal party's stance on age of consent and immigration laws relating to homosexuals. Basford replied that the party would not support lowering the age of consent for homosexuals from twenty-one to eighteen years, the age of consent for heterosexuals.
